I know that heist was discontinued, but it has a few concepts that I am trying to understand and am not finding much n the way of tutorials:
1) Was the heist program location aware? In other words, if a museum had multiple touch tables running heist, would an avatar appear on all of them, or was it able to use beacon technology to know which table was closest to the user?
2) After registration how did the avatar appear? Was action script polling a url for new avatars? Was the website able to signal the table somehow that a new avatar was added?
3) How was data pushed back to the users device? Was it using the URLRequest action script methods to send data?
4) Is there a demo or tutorial on creating dynamic on screen objects from data obtained from a url while the application is running? (How did OpenExhibits turn the avatar registration into an onscreen representation?)
Not really looking for a complete how to, more of the general overview of how some of this external communication was occurring, the concepts involved, and any tutorials that might touch on this,
