We've got our Omeka Everywhere collection viewer working nicely now. I'd like to be able to add item type metadata in addition to the standard Dublin core metadata however - is this something you might be able to support in future? This would add a lot more content and context to the images/files on the table. Confirming that the item type metadata is available via the omeka API.
Any clarification on this one?
Since all content management is intended to be done through your omeka instance, the customization of meta fields on the application end is not permitted. I'm not sure, but omeka may provide a plugin that will allow you to introduce your own which can then be accessed through the app by expanding the metadata tag inside of the MediaViewer.cml.
Thanks for replying Shaun,
I should have been a bit clearer in my request, confirming I was referring to fields that already exist on the omeka side (item type metadata being an additional metadata layer within the omeka CMS) rather than adding fields on the OE side. This could be a good enhancement request for the phase 3 development you were referring to. I.e. allowing item type metadata fields to be included in the mediaviewer.cml file)
Just checking in on the possibility of Omeka item level metadata (in addition to/instead of Dublin Core) being supported for display of content in the new version of the Omeka Everywhere table? I love the concept demonstrated here by the way
I'm still not sure I understand your request. Can you provide an example of "item level" metadata? In a previous message, you state you are "referring to fields that already exist on the omeka side" but I do not see "item type" as a Dublin Core metadata field so where does it exist on the Omeka side? On the other hand if you are referring to the "type" element, then it is already supported but I'm assuming this isn't what you are looking for. Just a reminder, the table/mobile apps will load all metadata types supported by omeka the only option to extend this would need to be supported by one of Omeka's plugins and if it isn't, you will need to contact omeka for such feature request. At which point we would be happy to make the modifications to consume said metadata.
Sorry @shaunmarsh, I might not be explaining myself very well.
To illustrate, this record: http://wyndhamhistory.net.au/items/show/1282 has both DC metadata and "Item type metadata" (I'm using the Omeka terminology here)
Currently if I use the api to look up this record (eg. http://wyndhamhistory.net.au/api/items/1282
) I can see the Item type metadata in the results, which should mean it can be picked up by the Omeka Everywhere table? The issue I'm experiencing at the moment is that only DC fields are available to display on the table?
Thanks Tom. This description is much clearer. I was not aware of the alternate metadata and I have added the feature request to the post-release task list. Thanks again for the heads up.
cool, thanks Shaun. will look out for this in a future release
